Who am I?
I’m a wife to a blonde-haired, blue-eyed dutch miracle, a mother of two rough and tumble boy- shaped tots, a nurse, and a writer. [Or at least, I’m a closet writer].
In Metaphors began as a journal, evolved into an outlet, and has become a reflection on screen of what lies behind the facade of ‘neat and tidy’ Shannon. I mostly like to write about the metaphorical pictures I see in the mundane, the lessons I learn, and the journey. I seek to be honest, real, raw. I write about personal sufferings, humorous disasters of my perfectionism hitting pavement and well, the in-between.
What will you find on my blog?
I write poetry, prose, humor, family updates, and a lot of lists {they have their own category}
I consider myself creative, although I am easily bored. I like to try something, then move onto something else.
Case in point: my short-lived cupcake making obsession. [leading to my cupcake hangover] Or my...
knitting phase,
sewing phase
quilting,
hand-crafted cards,
kids' activities,
birthday planning,
random crafts,
lots of yummy baking
renovating, and renovating, and renovating
photography, [or this one, or this one]
never ending, always making phase.
You get the point.
Why do I write?
I write as a way to make sense of my jumbled thoughts. Somehow when they are spit out on white pages (forgive my nursing/mom imagery) they make more sense than running around pin-balling off of each other in my head.
I’m blathering. I write like I talk (in run-on sentences).
Don’t worry, I’m working on that.
Your part.
Journey with me. Laugh with me. Contemplate with me. Create with me. Oh, and if you want, hire me for freelance writing =)
